7 things to check before you buy a website template

Not all templates are equal. Use this checklist to pick one that looks great, works on every device and is easy to edit.

A good template saves you days of work. A bad one costs you just as many. Before you buy, run through this list.

1. It’s built for your industry

Sections like services, listings or case studies should already match what you need to show.

2. It looks good on phones

Open the live demo on your phone. Many of your visitors will see the mobile layout first.

3. It uses shared styles

Colours and text styles should be set up as reusable styles, so rebranding takes minutes, not hours.

4. The CMS is ready

Blogs, projects and listings should run on the CMS with sample content, so adding new items is easy.

5. It passed a marketplace review

Templates on the Framer and Webflow marketplaces are reviewed for quality before they’re listed.

6. It includes the pages you need

Look for contact, legal and 404 pages, not just a beautiful homepage.

7. Support is available

Make sure you can reach the creator if something doesn’t work as shown in the demo.
